Old Hickory Utility District Water Transmission Route Survey for Metro Water Services

Comprehensive topographic survey of more than two miles of transmission main.

Since Metro Water Services became responsible for maintenance of the Old Hickory Utility District water system, the department has been making improvements to integrate the two systems to better serve the customers of Old Hickory. Toward that end, Metro contracted with a Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. led consulting team to design a new 16” water transmission main and a new pump station for the system. As a member of that team, Civil Infrastructure Associates, LLC (CIA) provided professional surveying services for the project.

CIA was tasked with providing a comprehensive topographic survey of the entire route of the transmission main, the total length of which exceeds 12,000 linear feet.

The topographic survey scope included precise locations of all existing roadway, storm water, and utility features within the right-of-way for the entire corridor length and the location of the new pump station at the 2 existing elevated water tanks in Old Hickory Village. CIA established horizontal and vertical control with GPS and confirmed vertical precision with differential levels.
